INDIRECT SPEECH

Indirect Speech (Kalimat tak langsung) merupakan kalimat yang diucapkan untuk melaporkan kata-katansi pembicara kepada orang lain. Jadi, Indirect Speech (Reported Speech) digunakan bila kita ingin melaporkan kata-kata seseorang kepada orang lain secara tak langsung.

Indirect Speech terdiri atas 3 jenis yaitu :

·         Statement (Pernyataan)

·         Command (Perintah)

·         Question (Pertanyaan)

Change Direct to Indirect Speech

1.      Q : “Ulises said, I’ve read that book.            

               A :  Ulises said he had read that book.

2.      Q : “Suzana said to her boyfriend, “ ”I can’t go tonight.”

               A : Suzana told her boyfriend she couldn’t go tonight.

3.      Q : “France said to me, “”I’ll finish this tomorrow.”

               A : France say me he’d finish this tomorrow

4.      Q : “The boy said, “” I’m only eight years old.”
  A : The boy said he was only eight years old.

5.      Q : “Mrs. Johanna said, “” I don’t do business that way.”

               A : Mrs. Johanna said she didn’t do business that way

6.      Q : He asked me “Open your book”

               A : He asked me to open my book.  

7.      Q : The man asked me : “Where do you live ?”

               A : The man asked me where I lived.

8.      Q : The teacher asked her : “Have you finish your homework ?”

               A : The teacher asked her if he had finished her homework.

9.      Q : Mary told her friends “I have been to Bali twice.”

               A : Mary told her friends that she had been to Bali twice.

10.   Q: Mary says “I have seen that film”

               A : Mary says that she has seen that film.
